Juan and Shigeru looked at each other for some while. Juan looked more enraged, trying to hide his nervousness, while Shigeru looked more calm, with a facial expression that looked blank, though a bit haughty. Their mothers too were one in front of the other, betting on the victory of their sons, though deep inside Atsuko was aware that she couldn't ask Juan for much, too.

Naoko arrived alone, because her parents had some social engagement. She didn't have any problem doing that, as she already had travelled many times alone. She was a very independent girl, that virtually did all the chores at her house, as her parents spent most of their time in social activities.

Besides Naoko, the house had many guests, most of them teen Karate students. From the family, Miguel Martínez and some of Misato Uchida's nephews and nieces were also present.

They decided that the referee had to be someone neutral, outside the family. When Ryōko said his name, Rosa immediately jumped from her sitting place, because he was the sender of the message that Mr. Tsuneyuki, the abominable snow man from Ishikari bay, rejected last Monday.

Soon they began to fight. During the first seconds, Juan and Shigeru studied each other, trying some fake attacks in order to test the opponent's reflexes. Shigeru was the first to attack, and Juan could barely dodge him.
